IS ONE AIM ENOUGH?

When I consider the aims of education, I realize that it does not have only one purpose. On the contrary, these purposes are a combination, mixture. The first aim is to shape individuals’ reflection of feelings. This is carried out by our families. For example, every person gets angry, but some shows it by shouting while some does not show any sign. We learn those types of reflection from our families. We achieve having proper qualities from our parents by listening or observing them. Sometimes, we even do not realize that we have learnt. The second aim is to make us ready for society life. How will we act, think, decide among people? Or how will we feel? We learn to become a member of society by answering these questions. However, there is a fragile point here, in my opinion. We learn how to be a member of society thanks to education, but we have unique qualities, creative ideas, different perspectives which separate us from the others. The aim of education should be to save those differences in the same time. Unfortunately, we are becoming same. For instance, everybody reads the same best-seller book or watches trend TV-series. There are trend topics which are talked among people continuously on social sites. When we look through another perspective, we feel as if an outcast. Therefore, we are afraid of this and losing our differences. Last part of this combination is job aspect. Education’s aim is to lead us to have a job, but a job will make us happy. We are under the pressure of our families and teachers about it. Even if they do not realize, they try to make their own dream real not ours. Our abilities or tendencies do not concern them, but there are exceptions. I am the best example of them. Although there is not anybody who knows English in my family, I realize my enthusiasm and tendency to it, and my family has supported me, and now I am here. It was my dream and I made it real with the help of them. I love who I am and I am a happy member of my society. Briefly, the purposes of education are to shape people’s reflection of feelings, to prepare them for society life and to help them choose a job which will make them happy.
