'maNga'

 Songs play an important role on our life because they have a potential to change our mood. In other words, a song can cause us to look at the world through a different perspective. While a song makes us feel depressed, another one can encourage us to achieve. Moreover, everybody has a favorite singer or group who has composed his/her favorite songs. My favorite group is ‘maNga’. I love them since they are a very successful group and the lyrics of their songs are meaningful. First of all, the group members are Ferman Akgül, Yağmur Sarıgül, Cem Bahtiyar and Özgür Can Öney. Ferman is the vocalist of the group. While Yağmur and Cem play electro and bass guitars, Özgür plays the drum. The group was set up in 2001 by Yağmur Sarıgül, ‘Yamyam’. They choose ‘maNga’, comics created in Japan, as a name. After they gained second degree in the song contest ‘Sing Your Song’, they started to be known. In 2006, their popular song ‘Bir Kadın Çizeceksin’ was included in the soundtrack of the game called FIFA. In 2010, they participated in ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in the name of Turkey. They prepared a magnificent dance show, and they became the second group following German singer. They have become the winner of many various awards since then.

Secondly, they have three albums, and they write most of their songs themselves. I think that they express their ideas precisely, and they give their message in a clear way. For example, they say that my remote control is the controller of my life. They criticize people who put television at the center of their lives. Nowadays, it has become impossible to see a person who does not spend most of his/her time in front of TV. We ignore the real world, and consume everything presented to us by TV, and Manga has used that in their song as a message. Likewise, there is the criticism of prejudice in their songs. They are also against people’s accepting things without questioning. Furthermore, they talk about human life, fate and related issues. Although their songs seem pessimistic, I do not think so because they make me feel strong. When I listen to them, I think that life continues no matter what happens. To sum up, I like songs, and Manga is my favorite group since they are a successful group who has many awards, and lyrics of their songs are very effective to convey their ideas and messages. I suggest everybody who likes solving the mystery of deep meanings listening to the songs of Manga.
