ENTRY 3: THE HOUSE OF HAPPINESS

My mother says that university life is the most remembered part of a person's life if the university you studied is an ideal one. This caused me to think what an ideal university should have and I listed two basic characteristics of it. First of all, the most significant is the atmosphere of a university, namely it should be an area where people can express their ideas freely. Moreover, people must learn how to be a critical thinker or a creative person there. Under the circumstances, METU gives you freedom to think and to comment on anything. For instance, we are expected to write reflections- our ideas- about the related topic instead of memorizing someone else's ideas. Additionally, we learn how to step outside the box and to use our innovative ideas in order to change the world. Second one is the intellectual side of a university. It should teach you to become an intellectual individual, which has knowledge about many different things and knows how to enjoy activities, in addition to being well-educated since we, as humans, have a social side to be satisfied as well. When those are considered, METU aims at raising both successful and intellectual people. For example, you can find social clubs or sports clubs to join and help projects to volunteer at METU in order to support yourself emotionally and mentally. Briefly, an ideal university should support you to gain knowledge so as to become successful and to become an intellectual, happy person. Therefore, METU fits criteria I have set one by one without any doubt and my university years will be the most remembered part of my life as my mother said.
